Vision for North Jackson Elementary’s Library Learning Commons:
The vision of North Jackson Elementary Library Learning Commons is to be an innovative, multi-use and welcoming space which encourages collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and connection through literature and technology.
When does my class check out books?
The library is open for check outs all day long. Classroom teachers set a schedule for their students to visit the library during the week.
How many books may I check out at a time?
There is not a limit to the number of books a student may check out and books may be renewed as needed.
My child checked out a book I’m not sure is appropriate for him/her to read. What should I do?
All books are selected to be appropriate for our school library. That does not mean that every book is appropriate for every child due to interest, readability or content. Teachers and library staff help students make selections by teaching about what good books include and how to decide if a book is right for you. We ask new readers to look for books that have pictures. After this coaching, checkout decisions are up to the students. We suggest reading with your child as a wonderful strategy for knowing what books your student enjoys reading
I lost or damaged a book, what do I do?
Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for or replaced. Before taking payment for a book we request that you look everywhere possible at home. We will ask the classroom teacher to check classroom shelves. We also double-check the shelves in the library. Once we have exhausted all possibilities checks or cash can be sent in for the cost of the book or a new book may be sent in as a replacement (see file below). Checks should be made out to: North Jackson Elementary.

Hello super readers! I am so excited to be at North Jackson Elementary School again this year! I have been a Media Specialist in Jackson County for 11 years. Before that I was a classroom teacher in Jefferson, Gwinnett, and Indiana for seven years. I have four children and I love Mexican food, warm weather, and traveling. My favorite books are the Harry Potter series. I look forward to helping you read, learn, and grow this year!
